How would it be a waste of effort to fix things on my computer? As Remilia said, we're making our own version. And I plan to spread it in this forum when I am finished.

I have three issues right now:
1. Sasori goes into hurt frames when using any combination while his puppet is out
2. Sasori doesn't instantly summon his puppet when going from Hiruko to Sasori
3. Kakuzu doesn't spawn the hearts when transforming

First of all you can't fix the game without a new edited exe. 2.4 original exe has lots of modifications in them.
I can see that you have changed state: 4xxx to state: 8xxx

After transformation, the transformed character goes into 0th frame (standing) and that is what's happening.
You need a modified exe to make them go in the desired frames after transformation.

I'm currently using Windows 10 Pro, and put on only the compatibility mode for Windows 98.

I can confirm that it is now possible in NTSD-RP Edition_v2 and NTSD 2.4_2.0a to use Kisame water clones, Manda summon/attack, and fighting against Kakashi in Stage 1 without crashing (during all of my gameplays) with my system.
Example picture of NTSD NTSD 2.4_2.0a (Summoned Manda vs Stage Kakashi)

Example picture of NTSD-RP Edition_v2 (Water clones vs Stage Kakashi)

This is all without changing either of the games.

well the compatibility mode does make the game work perfectly.
Though it's not a permanent solution at all.

Its great to see that you two want a fix for the game and have taken action. BUT unfortunately, it's like what Rhino said:

"First of all you can't fix the game without a new edited exe. 2.4 original exe has lots of modifications in them.

You need a modified exe to make them go in the desired frames after transformation."

He is right mates. LF2 ALWAYS had a problem with handling transformation with the original exe. You HAVE TO modify it.

@Kenert: It is a waste because a team has already started on that before you two. Doing two separate versions is just basically inadequate. We don't need another 10+ versions of the game. Its redundant now, honestly.
Simply joining together to make a FULL-BLOWN PROPER fix is the best solution.

As far as I'm aware the official NTSD team only works on NTSDII, the sequel of the game we're speaking of.

Until there's any other teams who still works on NTSD (and also possible to get in touch with), there's no reason to stop anything.

Well true. You guys can continue doing whatever you want.. The thing is, even if there is a team who's woring on it, if they know exe editing, they can fix the issue in like an hour. They don't need any external help at all. It's a one man job.
Are you guys planning to change the data to balance the game as well, if you are trying to do that then it's best to make it a community project by taking mass feedback from players because the characters who you feel need balancing, maybe already be balanced according to someone else. For that we need to discuss the balancing.

However if you're just trying to bug fix, then never mind and good luck.

Yes, the balancing would need the help of everyone, as I've been stating, asking if there is a topic for it, but that would be implemented into the game after it's ridden of its bugs.

Feel free to find, or open a topic for it. I'll probably do so the day the bugless version is done, if there is none. Might even cause some more activity, if some of us got a lot to say regarding the balancing, and others' opinions regarding that.

|=IDEA=|

I think it will be good when you just create bigger(1) version of NTSD 2.4

1- More characters,music and map conditons(2).

2- For example on sand map will be sand storm every 15 seconds.

It will be cool cause 2.4 was very playability (google translate LOL)

That wasn't very helpful mate...

The game' priorities are:
-Bug and glitch fixing
-New LF2 engine to accommodate the above
-Character balancing (hence the topic)
-Reducing the overall game size. 800+ MB is ridiculous for an LF2 game. Then again, LF-X Omega is over 1.2GB. XD

Size can be decreased for sure, lots of sprites aren't being used in there and overall the size can be easily lowered.. not a lot though.

Well if a spritesheet has less than 256 different colours you can drop the 1.28 mb to like 150 kb using colour compression 256 colour .bmp like the vanilla LF2 does or w/e

So we started this thread 2 years ago, and were told that there was no reason to start something from scratch because some other people are already doing it.

How far did they get, and how can I get in touch with them if I'd like to help/continue/revive this project?

It seems the other group is gone, as well. Anyways, why would you even stop developing yours while someone else was making one? Very Happy

The Lightning Country has a pretty much balanced version of NTSD 2.4.
We balanced it ourselves, and the game is alot better than NTSD II.

2.4 was always better than II.

Before I get bombed, I just want to point out that my "We don't need another 10+ versions of the game." message means: Develop many, but publish ONE so that players won"t get confused.

Relax, there's no one here to bomb you anyway.
I'm just grumpy because I wanted to get in touch with the projects before its people died so that everything wouldn't seemingly reset back to zero once again. What bugs me more than no development at all, is development that dies together with its creators. Basically NTSD II over and over until no one wants to start a new one anymore.

the tier list for this version:

half of the characters of the regular NTSD are below B tier.

add me to skype: "dinivrey"

A little "What's new?" text file can be found inside of the game folder.
But for everyone who wants to know what's new before downloading, here you go:
What's new?:
What's new?
-Windows 7; 8; 8,1; 10 support
-Included LF2 Multi server v2.01 (for 2p-8p games) and LF2 Lobby Server 0.1.4 by Chiko (for 2p-4p games)
-Fix folder: there you can solve all possible problems (read 'README.txt')
-Less online matches crashes (make sure you have read "README" file)
-Fixed some bugs
-Couple of new jutsus and updates of useless old ones
-Some other balances (changed HP/MP and other changes for some Attacks)

Updates (differences from NTSD 2.4 Full Original):
-Fixed some bugs
-Fixed small things and some issues
-HP/MP changes for many characters (there are no in the list)

Naruto:
-D>J (Rasengan) improved. Cast time is faster, range and speed of the jutsu. Also added a small feature to direct it up/down. Increased the cost of the jutsu
-D^A Can be used mid air, while jumping and while run jumping
-Clones (DvA & SVJ) are harder to kill
-D>A is changed from Shuriken throw to Kunai throw
-Added sequence to run jump attacking
-Added jump clone throw. (Run + J (J) + DvA

Sakura:
-New attack (AD)
-DvA Damage increased

Kakashi:
-D>J Fireball cast time is faster
-Chidori is changed - J = Change of direction, A = attack

-AJ (Hurricane) Cast time is faster, Hurricane stays longer

Sai:
-D>A - added the ability to send the lions (keep pressing A) up and down
-DVJ (Dragon) improved
-DVA (ink snake) Cast time is faster, and the snake immobilizes for a longer amount of time
-AD (Mouses) move 2 times longer and a little faster

Rock Lee:
-New attacks - AD, DVJ
-Changed places between D^J and DVJ
-Improved the usage of D^J and DVJ after shunshin (Run D)
-Drunken Master mode is now on DVJ + D

Neji:
-DVJ Cast time is 2 times faster
-D>A Requires less chakra

Shikamaru:
-DVA+A Damage increased

Ten Ten:
-DVJ - New attack
-Improved AD. The jutsu now is appearing on the enemy location (Teleport), but the damage is lowered and Chakra cost is increased

This is already close to done.
Over the years the original lightning country (skype) has been balancing and fixed a few moves as they've actively played the games themselves.
Recently I've joined in and invested myself into fixing everything else related to the dll file + other known issues, and I've to this date resolved every single issue except making hearts able to revive Kakuzu's monsters.

Game's as stable as lf2 and will soon go from alpha to the beta stage. Through moleboxing sprites and dats the game can be reduced to 90mb while not changing anything at all.
I just wish lf2 multiplayer didn't suck so much with barely anything causing it to lag unless you live really close. This would require a new game from scratch (perhaps the A-engine will make multiplayer far better).

Once game reaches its beta where the lib.dll is no longer apparent, I'll open up a topic in progress section with a lot more information and an invitation to become either a beta-tester or contribute in other means such as data changing and spriting chars, stages, menus.

All versions except final release will be private.

We're fully capable of taking the whole project by ourselves but every little help to reach our goal faster is highly appreciated. Especially since I want to finish this before NTSD reaches its 10th anniversary, so that we can expand upon the game as celebration.

No, it's not impossible without a hexed engine with state 4xxx and new effects.
Yes, it's doable through just data changing like everything else, even if some things are more complex than others.
Especially now as I'm done with Sasori, the most complex thing in all of NTSD.

I'm really glad that things are going well for you guys. If I was to not continue my studies this September, then I'd be on board as well.

I could probably help with small things. I just don't know what my schedule would be like. Haven't been informed yet.

Mh, game is on its way. The more to help, the merrier (until it becomes a uncontrollable chaotic mess). That way, the game won't have any issues with being left in the dark and disappear, like certain other games that are a little bit too private.

Whether you'd like to just test/play the game with us for balances, do sprites, or add small things, it all goes towards making the game more unique and feeling complete. Like for example small elements of the game that's there just for fun like this:
